Мона Лиза торт-скульптура- Renaissance Rocks-Mona Lisa sculpted cake
Огромная благодарность Kristi Touchette за Мастер-класс
Some say the Mona Lisa’s smile is “mysterious”...I say it’s smug, as if hiding a secret life not unlike the shirt design. I knew choosing such an iconic image would be a challenge. My approach was more of a playful interpretation then an attempt to copy the Mona Lisa..
After baking the cake, I began stacking onto a 1" square dowel which serves as the only support beyond a few small straws. I crumb coated and carved the cake into the general body shape. Once her posture was carved, I applied my first layer of white fondant (skin). I then added a layer of black as the under dress. The sugar necklace came next, which is painted fondant with edible silver applied. I decided to make the head last working from my way up. I began draping the black fondant “dress” in strips. I’m not sure why in this order, but I then applied the cake arms and attached them to the “body” with a few mini stir straws, and covered with fondant and sugar details again like the necklace. I had to make several since my daughter kept sneak eating them. The hands were sculpted from fondant. The cake “head” was applied and then slightly carved and covered in fondant. Face was sculpted and later painted with food color. The cake was sliced open the next day.
